Rohingya refugees sue for damages on Facebook

Rohingya refugees in the United States and the United Kingdom have been sued for $150 billion for promoting hateful anti-Rohingya posts on Facebook.

According to British media, Rohingya refugees have filed a lawsuit on Facebook in San Francisco.

The lawsuit alleges that Facebook's platforms promoted violence against the Rohingya, and that Facebook did not remove hate speech against the Rohingya from its platform.

Facebook has not yet responded to the damages lawsuit, admitting in 2018 that it had not taken appropriate steps to curb hate speech against the Rohingya in Myanmar.

It is estimated that about 10,000 Rohingya Muslims were killed in a military crackdown in Myanmar in 2017.
