After the sudden closure of Afghanistan's airspace due to Taliban control over Kabul, two planes en route to the Indian capital New Delhi entered Afghan airspace without knowing it.

According to aviation sources, the situation got out of control on Monday morning, August 16, when a large number of foreign passengers and Afghan nationals started arriving at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.

Afghan authorities immediately closed Kabul Airport to commercial flights and closed Afghanistan's airspace. Moldova's Terra Oya Airlines flight TVR750 from Baku to Delhi entered Afghanistan's airspace via Turkmenistan at 10:40 a.m. local time, when air traffic control alerted the flight. The pilot took the plane back to Turkmenistan in 11 minutes then reached the destination via Iran and Pakistan.

The pilot immediately turned the plane around and returned to Uzbekistan in just 4 minutes, entering Turkmenistan and then India.

According to aviation sources, the plane was supposed to enter Pakistan from Iran and go to the capital New Delhi, but due to the length of the route, due to fear of running out of fuel, the pilot diverted the plane from Iran to the UAE, after which Sharjah. After landing and refueling, the flight left for its destination Delhi.
